This beat contains mainly Upper Knowle, Knowle Park and Redcatch and includes the Broadwalk shopping centre and both sides of the Wells Road up to the junction of Airport Road. Also included in this ward is the Arnos Vale cemetery on the Bath Road.

The Filwood, Knowle and Windmill Hill Neighbourhood Team is based at Broadbury Road Police Station.

No insurance driver lights the way to his offence (Knowle)
At 5.45 am on the 11th November, a car was stopped by patrol officers on Friendship Road for having its fog lights on with no reason and non-working brake lights. On checking, officers identified that the driver was had no insurance or MOT. The driver was reported for offences and because there was no insurance the car was also seized.

Parking at the junction with Stoneleigh Road/Stoneleigh Crescent around school time

Occurring in the mornings and evenings.

  • Contact local neighbourhood watch co-ordinators to obtain specifics about issues
  • Liaise with the school about appropriate parking
  • Increased patrols both covert and overt
  • Educate then legislate approach to be taken.

Outcomes

PCSOs Michael Frost and Katie Wildman have been providing ongoing patrols around the school and junction.

Words of advice have been given to a handful of drivers over the last few months with no major issues.

16 April - Council members contacted with regards to length of time before road improvements can be conducted. Plans have been drawn up. A “walk about” in the area with the Mayor has been planned to secure funding.

28 April - Mobile police station in the area

8 May - On this occasion vehicles were parked correctly but there were some traffic issues.

14 May - Local Councillor spoken to with regards to ideas about a quick resolution to the issues faced.
