Bath and North East Somerset district > Bath neighbourhood area > Walcot beat

This is the beat for the council ward of Walcot.

Passing through the beat area is the London Road, one of the main routes in to and out of Bath from the east. Bordering on to the London Road is Snow Hill, one of the main residential and community areas of Walcot.

Also passing through the beat area is the Kennet and Avon canal, the towpath of the canal being a popular spot for walking or cycling.

Partners and Communities Together (PACT) gives you the opportunity to influence what happens in your neighbourhood and is our local policing pledge to you. It is a mechanism whereby neighbourhood issues, identified through local meetings, are taken to a partnership panel, where courses of action are agreed. Find out more.

If you are unable to attend a meeting but would like to make your views known, please Register your local priorities.

Current public priorities

Agreed 22nd October 2009

1. The cycle lane around London Road/Cleveland Place is not clearly defined. Road markings in the mouth of the junction are unclear (part of the cycle lane has been removed), and the timing of the traffic lights is such that cars still come from London Road out of the city when pedestrians are trying to cross the road. Cleveland Bridge itself is very dangerous for cyclists as the road on the bridge has deep ruts caused by HGVs.

2. Uneven pavements along Bathwick Street all the way along the London Road, past Kensington Place.

3. Local residents want a coherent regeneration strategy/planning policy for the London Road. This is in response to Caroline House (2 London Road) and the Fotec Building closing down imminently, as well as 3 and 4 Longacre House and the Longacre PH being closed, leaving a number of prominent buildings empty.
