Bath and North East Somerset district > Bath neighbourhood area > Oldfield beat

Oldfield beat/ward is situated south of the railway line up to and including Englishcombe Lane, bounded on the west side not including Coronation Avenue. To the east side it is bounded by Chantry Mead Road. The area comprises a busy shopping area situated within Moorland Road and surrounding this is a large area of private housing.

Within the Oldfield ward can be found numerous open spaces incorporating park areas for use by adults and young people. Within the Moorfields estate can be found a section of Somer community social housing. The area is popular with students studying at local colleges and universities.

Partners and Communities Together (PACT) gives you the opportunity to influence what happens in your neighbourhood. It is a mechanism whereby neighbourhood issues, identified through local meetings, are taken to a partnership panel, where courses of action are agreed. Find out more.

If you are unable to attend a meeting but would like to make your views known, please Register your local priorities.

Current public priorities

Agreed 7th July 2010

1. Fly tipping in the alleyway between First and Second Avenue.

2. Problems in Poplar Close with the residents of the flats.

3. Ongoing communication issues between University/Student residents and aggrieved residents of Oldfield Park.

Outcomes

Update 08/07/10 on priorities agreed at the meeting held on 10 March 2010:

Parking problems oitside St John’s School. Parents parking on zigzags, pavement parking and double yellow lines
* The Beat Team have been in regular contact with the Headmaster of St John’s School with regard to this issue.
* Parking has been regularly monitored and will continue to be monitored.
* PCSO Collier has visited the school and carried out Road Safety training with pupils.

Students' behaviour on St Kilda’s Road
* The Student Community Partnership ran a Waste Awareness campaign on campuses at the University of Bath and Bath Spa University and in Oldfield Park to raise awareness about the collection services, recycling centre, etc, and to encourage students to use these services and plan ahead in order to minimise waste left after they move out. They will be running a similar scheme next summer and will continue to raise awareness about being considerate of waste and noise through the Good Neighbours publication which goes out each year to all returning students and various other methods of communication such as regular email bulletins, websites, etc.
* If there are specific complaints then residents can contact Lauren Kelly on 01225 396996.

'To Let' signs - Reduce the number of ‘To Let’ signs on houses of multiple occupancy
* Councillors Will Sandry and Shaun McGall have been looking into this issue and over the next few months will be consulting with letting agents in the area.
