Bristol district > Brislington neighbourhood area > Stockwood beat

The Stockwood beat covers the Stockwood electoral ward. It spans from the Stockwood open spaces in the east to the A37 Wells Road in the west. Its southern edge is the city limits and its northern boundary is Callington Road. The area of Whitchurch Village east of the A37 Wells Road also forms part of the beat.

Stockwood in many respects is a self-contained village situated on the southern outskirts of Bristol. It has more than 13,000 residents, a shopping precinct, a library and a golf course. Its residential area comprises approximately equal numbers of private and local authority housing, and there are a number of elderly persons' dwellings.

The Hengrove and Stockwood Neighbourhood Team is based at Brislington Police Station. It comprises the Hengrove and Stockwood beats.

Partners and Communities Together (PACT) gives you the opportunity to influence what happens in your neighbourhood. It is a mechanism whereby neighbourhood issues, identified through local meetings, are taken to a partnership panel, where courses of action are agreed. Find out more.

If you are unable to attend a meeting but would like to make your views known, please Register your local priorities.

Current public priorities

Agreed 12th August 2010

Priorities agreed at Neighbourhood Forum meeting:

1. Plastic bottle bank round the back of the Harden Road / Hollway Road shops – overflowing.
Actions:
* Fly tipping around the bottle bank to be investigated and enforced by enforcement.
* Notes to be made when area is patrolled and fed back every 2 weeks (how much tipping, evidence obtained, number of FPNs, formal cautions, prosecutions)
* Request to be made for more frequent collection of the bottles as current is not enough
* Investigate possibility of moving the bottle bank
* If neighbourhood partnership accept devolved influence on recycling bring sites in September, use this avenue to address issues

2. Stockwood Green Primary School - future use
Actions:
* Establish directory of all youth activities in Stockwood and identify gaps in provision
* Build on youth directory to produce community activity directory
* Promote Wellbeing funding to assist organisations to expand their activities in the ward
* Facilitate meeting between community organisations, councillors and council officers to offer guidance about how to express a formal interest in community asset transfer for the Stockwood Green site
* Facilitate and support community organisations if they progress with a community asset transfer of the Stockwood Green site.

3. Speeding Hollway Road – Specifically 2100 – 2300hrs
Actions:
* Update briefing sheets for 24/7 Police Team Officers & Patrol plans to reflect the Forum priority.
* Letter drop to residents advising them of the priority and encourage input about times and days when they perceive speeding occurs.
* Speed survey to be conducted by Neighbourhood Police Team Officers. Results to be reviewed and further actions considered as necessary.
* Regular high visibility patrols by Neighbourhood Police Team on foot, pedal cycle or vehicle to deter excessive speed.

Assured traders scheme
We all know how difficult it is to find a good reliable trader. Trading Standards have made the task easier with their assured traders scheme website at: www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk. All business members of this scheme have had their services audited by Trading Standards and been given a personal recommendation. New legislation gives the consumer increased 'rights', particularly in relation to doorstep selling, driveway laying, etc, and the trader has an obligation to provide written notice of these rights.
