Bath and North East Somerset district > Keynsham neighbourhood area > Saltford beat

This ward is included in the Keynsham East/Saltford/Farmborough beat area.

Saltford ward contains the town of Saltford and surrounding area. The A4 runs through the ward and the River Avon flows along its northern and eastern border. The ward area also includes Saltford Golf Club.

In the Keynsham Neighbourhood Area the towns of Keynsham and Saltford are combined with the villages of Chewton Keynsham, Queens Charlton, Compton Dando, Hunstrete, Marksbury and Corston.

There is a huge difference in the needs of each town and village, resulting in differing types of crime in each area. The area is covered by a community safety partnership which is working together to target local problems.

Partners and Communities Together (PACT) gives you the opportunity to influence what happens in your neighbourhood. It is a mechanism whereby neighbourhood issues, identified through local meetings, are taken to a partnership panel, where courses of action are agreed. Find out more.

If you are unable to attend a meeting but would like to make your views known, please Register your local priorities.

Current public priorities

Agreed 20th July 2010

1. Traffic speed - A4-Corston (Globe roundabout)
Possiblity of reducing the speed limit from 60 - 30mph.

2. Manor Road, Saltford - Warning signs
Manor Road, Saltford - Keynsham - Narrow road with tight bends and no footpath. Lack of footpaths and signage a danger to pedestrians.

3. Anti-social behavior - The Mead, Farmborough
Anti-social behaviour created by youths in the area.

Other issues raised:
Saltford Hall - Residents are again experiencing problems with visitors to the hall parking on grass verges and pavements. Cllr Lyndsay Harris has agreed to deal with this issue.
Parish signs - The new signs which have recently been put in place are in the wrong position (boundary). The Parish Council will address this issue.

Outcomes

Review of priorities from 13/04/10:

Continued promotion of Neighbourhood Watch in Saltford
PCSO Sarah Hewlett has continued with her promotion of this scheme. 50 more letters have been delivered in the area. No responses have been received.

Pot holes across the beat area
Rachel Ward ( B&NES) has reported back to say that criteria for prioritising repairs to the highway are made based on the width and depth of the holes, and not their location.

Failure by First Bus to use allocated bus stops
First Bus have responded that at present bus lay-bys can't be used as the pavements need to be raised to enable them to pull up to the kerb. The pavement is too narrow and so they will need to continue stopping on the road for the forseeable future.
