Islemoor beat lies to the north of Ilminster and the A303. The A378 runs east/west through the north of the beat area.

Also included within the beat are the parishes of Hambridge, Fivehead, Westport, Curry Mallet, Isle Brewers, Isle Abbotts, Beercrocombe and Ilton.

1. Speeding
Through the villages of Hambridge and Westport on the main B3168 between 8am - 10am and 4pm - 5pm, and also on the A378 through Fivehead between 7.30am - 8.30am and 4pm - 5pm.

2. Criminal damage and thefts from sheds, garages and outbuildings
PCSO 8483 Ian Ross or PCSO 8048 Ben Middleditch.

3. Windows and doors being left open in hot weather on properties and vehicles
Lead agent - PCSO Ian Ross
Action - visible patrol, any properties or vehicles found unattended with windows open will have the details taken and a letter sent advising vulnerability.

Outcomes

Speeding:
* Currently Fivehead are running a Community Speed Watch (CSW) programme, where volunteers from the community address the problem of speeders in partnership with Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
* Leaflets have been distributed through the local school and CSW volunteers advertised for, through the local newsletters.

Criminal damage and thefts from sheds, garages and outbuildings:
* Working in partnership with the local Neighbourhood Watch teams in the community to distribute information and crime prevention advice and to promote awareness of the benefits of NHW in the community.
* Promoting Farm Watch and Horse Watch through the media of local newsletters and commercial businesses.

  • Isle Abbots - 10 July 2010 from 3pm to 4pm at the Village Hall
  • Curry Mallet - 19 July 2010 from 6pm to 7pm at the Village Hall
  • Ilton - 21 July 2010 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at the Village Hall
  • Fivehead - 30 July 2010 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at the Village Hall

We currently have three Community Speed Watch teams in the following areas in the Islemoor Ward - Fivehead, Hambridge and Westport. Horse Watch and Farm Watch have been set up to prevent, reduce and detect both equine and rural related crime. Many local farmers in the surrounding areas are now linked to Farm Watch and Horse Watch schemes.
