Partners and Communities Together (PACT) gives you the opportunity to influence what happens in your neighbourhood. It is a mechanism whereby neighbourhood issues, identified through local meetings, are taken to a partnership panel, where courses of action are agreed. Find out more.

If you are unable to attend a meeting but would like to make your views known, please Register your local priorities.

Current public priorities

Agreed 1st June 2010

HGVs - Queen Camel High Street and Marston Magna, between 8am - 6pm, Monday - Sunday
HGVs are using the A359 from Sparkford to Yeovil as a "rat run" contrary to highways guidelines. This is causing nuisance and danger to pedestrians and other road users. We have the relevant Road Traffic Order and map relating to the weight limit in Queen Camel and Marston. We are planning an outrage day for HGVs in Queen Camel Road Policing Unit and Community Speed Watch will be taking part. Date to be confirmed.

Outcomes

Update 14/07/10:

HGVs
Ten HGVs were checked through Queen Camel on 16 June. Four were issued with a Fixed Penalty for non-compliance with weight limit (£30), but the rest all had exemptions, the majority going to Perry's Recycling. We spent approximately three hours in the village and also assisted with Speed Watch and carried out an Operation Tonic drink/drive check (two other Fixed Penalties for seatbelts, two negative breath tests). Noticeably busier for HGVs in the morning.

Update on Shed/Bin for Queen Camel/West Camel Flood Watch Scheme
We have received some of the equipment for the shed. Hi vis clothing, empty sand bags (ready for filling), wellington boots various sizes, sand hopper, wheelbarrow, some more items to follow. A request has gone out for a railway sleeper so when the shed turns up it will have a base. The Road Closure signage has been ordered by Highways and should be with us in the Autumn. Volunteers are still required.

Farm Watch (Camelot beat)
A new scheme is in the process of being set up. If you run/live on a farm and would like to join together with others in the area then please make contact with PCSO John Winfield on 0845 4567000 to receive the necessary literature. For information via this site link to Farm Watch.

NHW logo

Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) (Camelot beat)
We are keen to get some NHW schemes set up in South Cadbury / Sutton Montis - the schemes are very worthwhile and we have seen first hand that they work. It is not hugely time consuming and the NHW can be as big an area or as small an area as you want. If you are interested and have a few hours to spare, please contact PCSO Thelma Mead on 0845 4567000 or by email via her link on this page. She will offer advice and support whenever she can to all schemes. For information on starting a scheme link to Neighbourhood Watch.

The Ride Along Scheme
This gives members of the Parish councils an opportunity to get a taste of police life, and is an opportunity to speak to officers and staff about what goes on in your neighbourhood. I have some leaflets if anyone is interested; please contact me and I will bring them out. (PCSO Thelma Mead)
