Avonmouth is predominantly an industrial village but there is a residential area of the village, which contains about 15,000 residents. In Avonmouth there is one primary school (Portview Road) and there are several public houses. The main feature is the park in the middle of the village which is close to junction 18 of the M5 motorway.

Avonmouth ward also covers Shirehampton village. There is a main high street that runs down the centre of the village and it has about 75 stores and shops situated on both sides. The main features of the village are the ``Green`` and the large comprehensive school at the beginning of the village which has over 1000 school students. The village has several public houses and several neighbourhood watches.
