Somerset East district

The district, territorially the second largest in the force, covers an area of 656 square miles; it borders the counties of Dorset, Devon and Wiltshire. The boundaries of the district were realigned in 1997 to make them conterminous with the two local district councils Mendip and South Somerset.

The police district itself is divided into two Neighbourhood Areas - South Somerset, in line with South Somerset District Council boundaries, and Mendip, in line with Mendip District Council boundaries. An inspector commands each of the Neighbourhood Areas. There are ten police stations located in the ten major towns and the district headquarters is situated in Yeovil.
