Bristol East Neighbourhood Area covers five political wards of Frome Vale, Eastville, Hillfields, St George East and St George West and is home to a multi-cultural population of approximately 62,000, which is rising.

Properties range from 1900s terraced homes through to modern housing built in the 1990s with a mix of privately owned, council and housing association properties. The main shopping centres are based around Fishponds Road, Lodge Causeway and Church Road, whilst industry is based in a number of small industrial estates.

The area is home to Blackberry Hill Hospital complex, the growing Cosham Hospital and the University of the West of England campus and there are also vast expanses of parkland. There are three senior schools, Colston's Collegiate, Bristol Brunel Academy (formerly Speedwell Technical College until September 2007) and Bristol Metropolitan College (formerly Whitfield School until April 2008) along with 11 primary schools.
