A joint effort between the Neighbourhood Team, local community projects and council departments has tackled the problems associated with street drinkers and beggars in one Bristol neighbourhood.

Together, they worked to create a 'No Drinking Zone', remove the bus shelter where drinkers were congregating, install new lighting, improve street cleansing and parking restrictions, and raise alcohol awareness among young people.

Getting people involved has reduced reports of anti-social behaviour by 40 per cent, increased footfall in shops, and rid the area of street drinkers and beggars, allowing the Neighbourhood Team to focus on other community priorities.
