Our Vision

In 2008, Avon and Somerset Police embarked on a journey to improve our performance whilst responding to increasing funding challenges. Our Accommodation Programme, ‘Building for the Future’ has become a vital part of this journey and more recently, the project has become even more important in helping to respond to the challenges of the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), by providing highly flexible accommodation solutions.

To deliver a police service that will meet the current and future needs of our communities, the Accommodation Programme will:

• Bring us closer to the communities we serve
• Improve response times for our specialist teams and reduce travelling times by basing them in the most accessible locations
• Help us to process offenders more efficiently through the criminal justice system as a result of new increased custodial capacity to interview and hold offenders pending final investigation and charge
• Enable us to join together our custody and investigative functions, releasing police officers back to the streets where they are needed
• Provide better value for money by improving and consolidating our estate, reducing our carbon footprint and ensuring we use our buildings in the most effective way
• Enable us to provide better opportunities for working with our partners
