- Consider how you are going to get home. For example, pre-book a taxi with a registered company or arrange a lift with a friend or family member. Avoid walking home alone.
- Always use a registered taxi company, never use an unlicensed minicab.
- Make sure you stay with your friends and that someone knows where you are at all times.
- Carry a mobile phone so you can make a call, if necessary.
- Steer clear of trouble. If you see any trouble or suspect that it might be about to start, keep clear. The best thing you can do is avoid it and alert the police.
- Be wary of casual requests from strangers, like someone asking for a cigarette or change.
- Always keep your bag and belongings in view. Don’t have valuables on display. For example, avoid carrying your mobile phone or wallet in a back trouser pocket.
