Interserve, formerly MacLellan, operating at The Mall – Cribbs Causeway near Bristol, were the first private organisation in the South West region to receive accreditation. We continue to enjoy a good working relationship with them and PRUPIM who own the shopping mall and surrounding entertainment centre "Vue" and retail park.
Since 1st April 2006 the number of Accredited Persons naturally have fluctuated and the number now is 14 Security Officers. Their accreditation was renewed by ACPO CPI in March 2010 taking us up to March 31, 2013. Training in regulating traffic was conducted in September 2010, thus enabling security staff to assist police officers to manage the flow of traffic at peak times around The Mall complex.
Bristol City Council Security Services have renewed their Accreditation in October 2009, taking us up to September 30, 2012. Bristol City Council’s Security Mobile Response Team currently provides a 24 hour emergency response cover for all council departments and provides a range of services including locking and unlocking of buildings, patrol of parks and open spaces, assisting with the removal of abandoned vehicles and gathering information on anti-social behaviour and providing intelligence reports.
Some 20+ Accredited Persons will be able to issue PNDs for offences including:
- Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986
- consumption of alcohol in a designated place
- consumption by persons under 18
- possession of a category 4 firework
The Constabulary has committed to this process by offering training in the powers, intelligence gathering, the completion of PNDs and capturing anti-social behaviour on Forms 142.
The Vision Security Group provide security for The Mall – Bristol, formerly The Galleries. There are four officers who have been accredited. Another four are about to commence accreditation.
Protocols are in place for the above three partners enabling them to contact our INTEL Bureau for PNC checks on individuals and vehicles.
Cash & Traffic Management were conferred traffic regulation powers enabling them to manage traffic on the roads around the Glastonbury Music Festival site. 16 of their staff were trained by us. This was the first time this was done and the feedback from the police and the organisers was very positive. The number will increase in readiness for the 2011 festival.
In a similar vein 10 staff working for Bradsons Event Services were also accredited with the same traffic regulation powers. The Yeovilton Air show -2010 - was a first for them too. Bradsons operate in other force areas, principally in the South West region, and we are collaborating with Devon and Cornwall and Wilts police on this.
We are also collaborating with Devon and Cornwall in accrediting Securitas and BKS security staff.
The aim, during the last two quarters of the 2010/11 performance year, is to resurrect earlier discussions with the University of Bristol and OCS operating at the Southgate shopping complex in Bath.
