Horse and rider safety
- Try not to ride alone
- Tell someone where you are going and how long you will be.
- Take your mobile phone.
- Teach your children not to speak to strangers.
- Wear fluorescent or reflective clothing.
- Do not ride after dark if possible.
If you become a victim of crime -
- Report it to the police as soon as possible.
- Advertise your horse's/pony's description in the local press.
- Contact your local Horsewatch co-ordinator.
- Contact the equine press.
- Contact other organisations such as the International League for the Protection of Horses. They will be able to help with market locations etc.
- The internet is another way of circulating details of your stolen horse. Your local co-ordinator may have a list of useful websites.
