Internet crime can cover the following:
- fraudulent use of stolen credit card details
- setting up illegal websites
- hacking or cracking individuals' or company websites
- transmission of virus programs
- illegal and indecent images of children.
If you see indecent images of children you should contact the Internet Watch Foundation. There is a dedicated page to this organisation on this site.
If you feel you have been a victim of crime on the Internet, eg credit card fraud, you should contact your local police in the usual manner or you can report it on-line now.
Remember to keep all the evidence you can, eg printouts of e-mails, website addresses, dates etc.
If you believe someone has hacked or cracked your website you should contact your Internet Service Provider who should be able to offer advice and look into any
security breaches.
