Shopping on-line

Only shop with major named companies you know you can trust, companies you would shop with in the high street. It is in their interest to ensure adequate security measures are in place to protect their customers.

Be very wary of sites that ask for your card details up front before you actually order anything.

Make sure you have a mailing address for the company. This should be available on their website. If they do not provide it, ask yourself why. A trustworthy company would have no reason to withhold their address.

When transmitting your details look for a padlock symbol on the bottom bar of your browser. This indicates that you are accessing a secure page which should prevent your information from going astray.
