A photograph taken of police headquarters showing the main entrance containing the text Tour of Police Headquarters
Introduction

A photograph of Her Royal Highness the Queen Welcome to the Avon and Somerset Constabulary Police Headquarters. The site was purpose-built in the early 90s and was officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1995.

The 47 acre site cost £31 million and is currently home to over 1000 operational and police staff. There are a number of facilities on site including Portishead Down Training School, a renowned regional centre of excellence for police training.

The land on which Headquarters now stands was once called Highlands Farm. It remains home to a wide variety of wildlife including birds, insects and plant life.
