Q1. The number of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) issued for parking offences in 2009.
Q2. The number of the above FPNs that were contested.
Q3. The number of the above FPNs whereby a court summons was sent to the vehicle owner, keeper or driver as a result of them contesting the FPN.
Q4. The number of the above FPNs that resulted in the vehicle owner, keeper or driver being successfully prosecuted in court for the offence.

Your request for information has now been considered and the information asked for is below.
Please note that the information for questions 1 and 2 is recorded on a separate system to that of questions 3 and 4 and these systems cannot be cross referenced.
Q1 – In 2009, 10,766 FPNs were issued by Avon and Somerset Constabulary for parking offences.
Q2 – Of these, 178 were contested.
Q3 – We are unable to provide a figure in relation to the questions posed above due to the information being recorded on separate systems which cannot be cross referenced. However we can confirm that 78 court summons were issued as a result of an owner, keeper or driver contesting their FPN.
Q4 – 35 of these resulted in successful prosecutions.
