The Southville beat is a mixed area of commercial and residential properties covering parts of Ashton and Bedminster as well as Southville. The beat starts at Bower Ashton and ends at Bedminster Bridge.

A lot of the area is residential but there are two main shopping areas namely North Street and East Street and the surrounding roads off East Street. There are a couple of primary schools and a comprehensive school at Ashton Park.

Spread over the area are a few small retail parks and industrial estates. The beat also contains several parks, namely Greville Smyth Park, Dame Emily Park and St John's Church Yard.

The nearest police stations are shown below. The station providing policing for this beat is Broadbury Road Police Station, Broadbury Road, Knowle West, Bristol.

Budget Booze off-licence

Huge fine for Bedminster Off-Licence
On Wednesday 30 June 2010, Mr Julian Packer, the proprietor of the Budget Booze Off-Licence, 158 East Street, Bedminster was hauled before the justices at Bristol Magistrates Court for an offence of selling alcohol to a 16-year old customer :-

1. Street drinkers on bench outside Natwest Bank on North street
Actions:
* High visibility patrols to be carried out at key times.
* Anti-social behaviour forms to be issued to persons being a nuisance.
* Meeting to be held with partner agencies ref possible removal of bench.
* Awaiting further actions from Neighbourhood team.

2. Nuisance motor bikes, Raynes Road and Ashton Gate
Legal bikes being driven by youths causing a nuisance and being driven in a reckless manner.
Actions:
* Neighbourhood team to conduct high visibility patrols.
* PCs to stop vehicles and offer road safety advice.
* Nuisance Motor Vehicle warnings to be issued to persons driving recklessly.

3. 20mph zone Greville Road, Raleigh Road and Duckmoor Road
Vehicles perceived to be travelling over 20mph limit.
Actions:
* Neighbourhood team to liaise with Highways and perform speed checks.
* Report findings back to next meetings.

4. Parking on road corners, Stackpool Road and Raleigh Road
Actions:
* Regular patrols to be carried out at key times.
* Neighbourhood team to liaise with Parking Services and arrange day of action.
* Use of fixed penalty notices where appropriate.
* To update at next meeting.

Outcomes

Parking on road corners, Stackpool Road and Raleigh Road
Patrols carried out 30/6 by PCSO Olszewski in Stackpool Road, Raleigh Road and Upton Road. Leaflets were placed on cars advising them of considerate parking.
