North Somerset district > Nailsea neighbourhood area > Backwell beat

Backwell is a residential area which is situated along the A370. It has a railway station, three junior schools and one secondary school. The population is about 5,700.

It is supported by an active Parish Council and Neighbourhood Watch group. There are many clubs including two youth clubs, a football club, WI and an amateur dramatic society.

The nearest police stations are shown below. The station providing policing for this beat is Nailsea Police Station, Stockway South, Nailsea.

Current public priorities

Agreed 25th May 2010

At the PACT meeting held at Backwell United Football Club on 25 May 2010 the following priority was agreed:

1. Anti-social behaviour
Particularly on a Friday and Saturday night between 6pm and midnight in the Rodney Road area and Backwell playing fields.

2. Road safety
As part of their ongoing patrols plan officers will be targeting road safety on the A370.

There are currently no specific priorities for the Brockley and Flax Bourton area.

Outcomes

Update 30/06/2010:

Anti-social behaviour
There have been low numbers of anti-social nuisance calls since the last meeting and specifically none in relation to a business premises in the Rodney Road area. Levels of anti-social behaviour in the Rodney Road area and the Recreation Ground remain low.

Road safety
Patrols have been targeted around parking issues and the neighbourhood team have been working with Backwell School to address some of the parking issues around the school site.
