Vote of Confidence
What the report says...
"Confidence in the force is moving in the right direction."
"According to the British Crime Survey, public confidence in Avon and Somerset has increased markedly since 2007/08."
What we have to say...
We are dealing with issues that really matter to people in their communities. The latest British Crime Survey found that we are performing well in this respect. Compared to other forces, we have risen from seventh to third position in less than a year.
This year a record number of people nominated officers and staff for the annual Community Policing Awards. Over 700 entries were received, many from members of the public who wanted to highlight the excellent work of individuals and teams who have made a real difference in their communities.
Real life example
Resident who nominated their local beat team for an award:
"We've seen such changes over the years. There were problems with young people stealing expensive flower pots, throwing eggs and vandalising things.
"The policing team have worked very hard with us to stop this. They know the patch really well. They are very visible and really care.
"We were inspired to nominate the team when we had no crime at all over a period of three months – no burglaries or local crime at all."
