Aims and objectives
The Disability Action Team is made up of staff who have either had or are having direct, or indirect experience of disability issues.
The Team aims to work in partnership with the Constabulary to:

- provide points of contact and information for staff/managers for issues concerning disability (including conditions, injuries, illness, etc);
- create a more accessible and inclusive working environment for staff, particularly those with disabilities;
- ensure recruitment, retention, progression and training opportunities are accessible and inclusive of people with disabilities;
- ensure the policies and procedures of the constabulary are accessible and inclusive of people with disabilities;
- raise awareness and educate about issues associated with disability;
- provide a confidential support service to staff through disability contact officers;
- ensure the Constabulary at least meets its obligations in respect of the Disability Discrimination Act including the incorporation of police officers in October 2004;
- ensure the Constabulary complies with its commitment to equality and fairness particularly in respect of disability.
The Disability Action Team is supported by staff associations - Unison and the Police Federation.
