Enquiry officers based at each main police station interview prospective licensees and ensure they are fit and proper to hold a licence. They also liaise in relation to conduct on the licensed premises and the suitability of applicants and licensees.

Some local authorities operate an on-line application service for licences – please check with your relevant local authority (links provided below).

To apply for any licence not using the electronic method, applications and Temporary Event Notices are obtained from the local authority, who will provide detailed information about where to send copies of your application/notice. The police copy of the application/notice should be sent to:
