Trials Unit

The Trials Unit is dedicated to the specialist preparation of serious criminal case files for trial at Crown Court. Decision Makers receive and assess case files before allocating them to Enquiry Officers, who collect evidence and build the files to ensure they are trial-ready. The Trials Unit also includes Crown Court Liaison Officers, who oversee the day-to-day relationship between the Crown Courts and the Criminal Justice Department.

The Trials Unit works in close partnership with the Crown Prosecution Service and also with investigating officers throughout Avon & Somerset, ensuring that victims and witnesses of the most serious crime have the best possible chance of seeing justice done.
