Victims & Witnesses

Being a victim or witness of crime can be a very distressing experience, and the criminal justice system can seem daunting and complicated. However, we are here to help.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary will provide practical support, information and advice for victims and witnesses to guide them through this difficult time. We can also put victims and witnesses in touch with independent organisations that can help and provide emotional support and guidance. Avon and Somerset Constabulary have contracted the charity Victim Support to contact most victims of crime on behalf of the Chief Constable to promote the support and other services which are available to victims of crime, if they wish to make use of them.

These pages are intended to provide guidance and information for victims and witnesses. Please visit our frequently asked questions section which will take you through the criminal justice process. Guidance, support and lots of information can also be found on the links to various agencies and organisations on the links provided.
