Air Support Unit

The Western Counties Air Operations Unit is based at Filton Airport and staffed by officers from both Avon and Somerset Constabulary and Gloucestershire Constabulary.

Dog section

Mounted section

The mounted section is based at Bower Ashton and is used for specialist events such as crowd control and searching for missing persons.

Operational Planning

This department is responsible for planning VIP and public military events, responding to exceptional incidents and policing major events such as the Glastonbury festival.

Roads Policing Unit

One of the main aims of the RPU is to reduce casualties on our roads, thereby reducing the misery and grief created by fatal and serious collisions.

Support Group

The support group is used to respond to incidents that require special training, such as large-scale public disorder and underwater search.
