The Learning Technologies team is managed by Lee Webber and have responsibility for integrating new emerging technologies into the learning and development process to offer more efficient and cost effective methods of delivering training to all force personnel. The team is made up of a number of key areas:
E-Learning Development
We design and develop e-learning modules and courses to create richer, interactive learning experiences for anyone wishing to undertake learning either remotely or in the classroom. This can be to either meet a training requirement or to supplement a traditional classroom delivered course, in the form of a blended learning solution. These are hosted on our Managed Learning Environment (MLE) supplied by NCALT (www.ncalt.com) which records around 500 course completions per month on a whole range of subjects.
Also available through the Managed Learning Environment is a library of over 100 national e-learning programmes supplied by NCALT.
IT Qualifications
We are an accredited British Computer Society (BCS) test centre for the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) qualification, having held this since 2005. We offer the opportunity for all staff to achieve the full ECDL qualification. Read More.
Electronic Performance Support System(EPSS)
We provide a range of electronic support material in many formats to support the vast range of IT systems in place. We are currently implementing an EPSS server system to offer live, in-application help and support.
Multimedia Suite
The Multimedia suite provide a service to the officers and staff of Avon and Somerset Constabulary in the preparation, acquisition, editing and dissemination of audio and video material. This can be for classroom, court, community events, internet or e-learning purposes. Read more.
Simulated Operations Suite
The Simulated Operations Suite (Hydra) is a training simulator designed to provide learning scenarios that are as close to the real thing as possible. With 4 syndicate rooms, a control room and large debrief room we can simulate virtually any incident or scenario, but within a safe but challenging training setting. Read More.
Virtual Classroom, Webinars and on-line Meetings
We also offer training and support to users of the virtual classroom system NCALT LIVE (www.ncalt.com/live) which runs on the Adobe Connect product. This offers the ability to deliver training remotely on-line to learners right across the force area. Also, because this system is connected through the police national network we can hold on-line meetings and webinars with any other police force in the country, resulting in time and huge cost savings.
