Assaults on Police Employees Since 2013

Question

1. How many Avon and Somerset Constabulary members of staff have been spat at whilst on duty in North Somerset and how many have been bitten whilst on duty broken down for the following time periods: • 2017 – up to April 30 • 2016 • 2015 • 2014 • 2013

2. For each instance, please can you include the staff member’s job role (i.e. police officer, custody officer, PSCO).

3. Have any officers who have been spat at or bitten on duty have reported contracting a disease from either a bite or spit assault?

4. What is the force’s policy on what happens after a bite/spit assault for the member of staff (i.e. any medical tests which are provided).

5. Does the force use spit hoods?
