Answer

One police officer is deemed to have breached the Data Protection Act and/or Computer Misuse Act and where a misconduct case has been proved against them in respect of “Access to the Police National Computer” (PNC).

This incident occurred in 2016. An off-duty Police Officer was involved in an incident on a road which they then reported. Subsequently, whilst on-duty, they then accessed the Police National Computer to identify the driver. These details were then included in a witness statement to another Police Force. The officer was given management advice.
