Ethnicity of Candidates

Question

In terms of recruitment of new Police officers from 2011-2016 please can you provide me with the information for the following:

1: The breakdown of ethnicity of candidates that were successful

2: How much was spent on advertising on recruitment of new police officers.

3: In relation to question 2, how much of that was used to recruit people from diverse cultures.

Answer

In relation to question 1, we no longer hold information for 2011 – 2012 due to our records retention policy.

In 2013 the ethnicity breakdown for successful candidates in 2013 is as follows:

STAGE: DISTRICT INTERVIEW

Total No. successful = 152

White

137

97.20%

No. Ethnicity declared = 141

BME

4

2.80%

Please note that all statistics are a percentage of those candidates who declared their ethnicity. White’ is made up of White British, White Irish and other White background. BME includes all other ethnic groups. The breakdown of those successful is proportionate to the breakdown of applicants.

No information is held for 2014 as there was no police officer recruitment during this year. From 2015 to present, we are unable to provide the breakdown of successful candidates as there are some who are yet to finalise their assessments.
