From May 11th 2015 the Constabulary introduced a protocol that it would no longer accept under 18’s detained under section 136 MHA into police custody. Since that date we have been working closely with our partners in the health service to ensure that children detained under the Act receive the appropriate care in a health based place of safety, we have consequently not had to use police cells for such a purpose since then.
