Our general rule is that we will not exceed £125 per night, but would expect effort to be made to come in under this level.  This is not a hard and fast rule as sometimes it simply will not be possible to stay within this limit – particularly in London where demand for hotel accommodation is high and the need for central locations in order to reduce travel time means reasonable options are limited.

“8) Please provide the expenses forms for each time an employee (staff and officers) has claimed hotel stays of more than £100 per night in 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15.”

We have identified that the following claims for hotel accommodation, where the value of the claim was greater than £100, were processed during the years in question:-

  • 2012/13 – 3 claims totalling £484.91 (includes one last minute accommodation in London which owing to limited availability was £248.40)
  • 2013/14 – 4 claims totalling £574.95 (includes one last minute accommodation in London which owing to limited availability was £215.95)
  • 2014/15 – 7 claims totalling £955.82
