Question 1: Does your Police Force operate any satellite stations or police hubs on the premises of a large retail store?
Question 2: Does your Police Force receive any funding or financial contributions from any large retail chains or stores* (examples given below)
Examples* - ASDA, Tesco, Debenhams, John Lewis, Morrisons, Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Co-Op.
There is a facility within the Asda store in Taunton. This is a drop in facility (portacabin) outside the store which is used as a police post. In Bristol there are units in the Asda Car Park in Bedminster and at Avonmeads Retail Park.
In addition, whilst not a “large retail store per se”, we also have a facility at the Mall at Cribbs Causeway shopping centre, from which we provide policing for which we charge £232,974 under a special police services arrangement. We also provide specific policing services for events, such as the switch on of Christmas lights, which is chargeable in addition to the above figure.
