As a result of a hearing held at Police HQ on Tuesday 10 October, led by an independent Legally Qualified Chair, allegations of gross against DC T were proven and the officer was given a final written warning.
Supt Richard Corrigan, Head of Professional Standards, said: “The public rightly expects the highest levels of behaviour from officers at all times.
“Officers and police staff are expected to adhere to the College of Policing’s Code of Ethics and the Police Officer Standards of Professional Behaviour when using social media, either for a work purpose or for their own private use.
“In sharing and posting offensive, discriminatory and politically-motivated social media posts, DC T’s conduct has fallen below the standards expected of them.
“The views expressed in these posts are in stark contrast with the Force’s Standards of Professional Behaviour and core values."
