Jon joined the Constabulary in 1997, having graduated in Civil Engineering and European Studies from the University of Bristol and the University of Cantabria, Spain.
He was posted to the then South Bristol District where he undertook uniformed roles in both response and neighbourhood policing, during which time he was promoted to Sergeant.
Subsequently Jon undertook a lateral move into the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in 2005 and remained in detective roles within the City for nearly ten years leading teams tackling organised crime, major and serious crime and volume crime offences.
This culminated in him becoming head of Bristol CID as a Detective Superintendent. During this period he also spent eighteen months as Staff Officer to Chief Constable Colin Port.
In January 2014 Jon was promoted to Chief Superintendent and became the Area Commander for Bristol and responsible for the delivery of policing across the City. This has been a role to which Jon has always aspired and he is very proud to lead the staff that police the City in which he has lived and worked for over twenty years. He still lives in Bristol with his wife and two children.
