Mark Milton joined Avon and Somerset Constabulary as Director of People and Organisational Development in July 2017.
Mark joined us from South Wales and Gwent Police, where he’s worked as Director of Support Services for the past six years. Working in a collaborative role across the two forces that includes responsibility for HR, Learning and Development and Legal Services, he’s also been the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) lead for Driver Training Education and supports national policing work at the College of Policing.
Mark is Vice Chair of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Police Forum and recently became a Fellow of the CIPD.
A Bristolian by birth, Mark moved to Portishead when he first got married and has lived in Wiltshire ever since. His career spans the insurance and financial sectors as well as policing and has taken him to the City of London and mainland Europe, as well as Wales and the West Country.
Mark sees his new role at Avon and Somerset as supporting the public by focusing on the force’s most valuable resource of all – our police officers, staff, and volunteers, making sure that we reflect our community in our staff and that we have the right people with the right skills when and where we need them.
