Notify the police of a transfer of firearm or shotgun

Use this form to inform Firearms Licensing of the acquisition or disposal of a gun between yourself and either another certificate holder or Registered Firearms Dealership.

If you have acquired or disposed of a gun in any of the following ways:

  • shared or ceased to share a gun
  • loaned or been loaned a gun
  • received a gun from the deceased estate of another certificate holder
  • found a gun
  • imported a gun from abroad
  • have received or surrendered a gun to your local police station

You must inform us within 7 days of acquiring or passing on ownership of a firearm or shotgun.

Failure to comply with the conditions of your shotgun certificate under the Firearms Amendment Act could lead to prosecution.
