Man in court over burglary and fraud – Bath

A man’s due in court today, Thursday 11 October, facing charges of burglary and fraud.

Michael McGowan, 32, of no fixed abode, is charged with burgling a bookshop in Bladud Buildings and stealing a purse.

He’s also charged with fraud by false representation after a bank card from the stolen purse was used in a nearby shop the same night.

Bookshop staff called us after finding a man in a staff-only area at about 10.45pm on Tuesday 9 October.

Neighbourhood PC Adge Secker and response officer PC James Lawes were patrolling the city at the time.

They attended and after making local enquiries arrested a suspect at 11.30pm.
