Added on 08 August 2017 at 15:19

We're appealing for information after seven vehicles were damaged by fire in Clevedon in the early hours of Friday 4 August.

Six cars parked in Teignmouth Road and one in Parnell Road were involved. Two were burnt out and the rest were damaged. The fires also caused damage to the guttering, fascia and lofts of two nearby homes.

The fires are believed to have been deliberately started and spread to between the vehicles and properties.

Investigating officer PC 4437 Simon Broad said: “Significant damage has been caused to these cars and the flames spread to nearby homes causing further damage. This was a reckless act which could have had even more severe consequences.

“I’d ask anyone with information about who was responsible for this to get in touch online or by calling 101 quoting reference 5217177866."

He added: "While this is an unusual incident for Clevedon, we’d urge residents to ensure their cars look out for one another and report any suspicious activity around neighbours’ vehicles.”
