We received a call at just after 1pm today from a member of the public concerned about items found within a property in Colston Road in Bristol.
A cordon was put in place and a section of the road was closed to allow the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit to attend and carry out an assessment.
The items were found to be imitation weapons as well as non-viable and harmless devices and the cordon will be removed shortly.
Ch Insp Yan Georgiou said: “Armed officers attended this incident to support local policing units as a precaution, based on the information we received at the time.
“Public safety was our top priority throughout and we followed advice from the EOD in relation to the cordon we needed to have in place.
“Although no residents were evacuated, we recognise the policing operation caused disruption to the local community and I’d like to thank them for their patience and co-operation.”
