Police and Fire HQ in Portishead is opening its doors to 7500 ticket holders on Sunday 1St October for an action-packed day. This year we’re celebrating the work of emergency services across Avon and Somerset.
The incredible work of emergency services across Avon and Somerset will be showcased with displays, vehicles and information. Representatives from a variety of emergency services including Great Western Air Ambulance, Fire & Rescue, RNLI, SWASFT and the Coastguard are working closely to ensure there are a wide variety of emergency services at the event.
Set to be the largest ever public emergency serviced event in the force area, it will include previous family favourites with displays from the force’s canine officers and the mounted section. The Open Day is also an opportunity to learn about those who volunteer in communities across the force including Specials, Cadets and Neighbourhood watch.
Andy Marsh, Chief Constable says: “This event is a great opportunity for us to open our doors to our local community and share with them the work we do to ensure they feel safe. We are delighted to extend this year’s event to welcome our emergency services partners; working collaboratively is a really important part of what we do and the communities we serve. It is set to be a fantastic day, so please do apply for tickets to join us.”
Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said "I'm delighted that the constabulary will once again be opening its doors to say thank you to you for your support as colleagues, families, friends and residents. We always have a fantastic time at our open days and I hope that you will take the time to join us again this year, celebrating the work of all our emergency services.
"Between the tours of the communication centre where 999 calls are received, demonstrations by the dogs, horses and fire as well as finding out more about how you can be involved in helping your emergency services, there is truly something for everyone."
The Open Day is a fully ticketed event, and all tickets are now sold out. You can follow us on social media on the day, we will be tweeting from @ASPoliceLIVE using #ASPOpenDay and there will be regular updates on our Facebook page.
