Family Disclosure

We have a procedure in place to enable timely access to relevant information which may be held by the police for the purposes of Family Proceedings.

The Legal Services Directorate deals with requests for relevant information which may be held by the police required for public and private law family proceedings.

It is the Single Point of Contact for Avon and Somerset Police for the national 2013 Protocol and Good Practice Model – Disclosure of information in cases of alleged child abuse and linked criminal and care directions hearings.

The key principle of the "Protocol and Good Practice Model" and the procedure adopted by the Directorate in relation to all requests, is the promotion of co-operation with a view to minimising delays within family proceedings.

To help achieve this aim the Directorate look to practitioners to adhere to the principle of the protocol.

Any requests and/or court orders should be served upon:

Avon and Somerset Constabulary
Legal Services Directorate
Police Headquarters
PO Box 37
Valley Road
BS20 8QJ

Fax: 01275 814 522

Please note: Requests/orders in respect of family proceedings will be accepted by email at the following address only, unless expressly agreed otherwise:

Practitioners will be required to provide the fee or an undertaking to discharge the Directorate's Standard Disclosure Fee of £100 prior to any work being undertaken on the request.

Please make cheques payable to 'Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset' or 'PCC for Avon and Somerset'.

The Standard Disclosure Fee will be reviewed annually.
