Coronavirus (COVID-19): the policing response and what you need to know

Livestock Worrying

We have received a number of reports of livestock worrying by dogs in and around Haselbury Plucknett, North Perrott and Hardington Moor. This has unfortunately resulted in sheep being badly insured and in some cases killed.

A livestock or land owner, or a person authorised by them, may kill or injure a dog in order to protect livestock. The dog must be worrying or about to worry livestock.

We take these types of incidents very seriously and we are currently working with farmers and the local community to try and identify any dogs and owners involved.

If you are walking your dogs in the country side your dog can scare and harm livestock. Please ensure you use a lead around livestock BUT release your dog if you are chased by cattle.

Anyone with any information is requested to contact us using the links on this page or by calling 101.
