Speeding

  • Speeding is experienced throughout the area including in 20mph speed limits sections. Enforcement is taking place in co-operation with Roads Policing.

    Speed checks continue. There currently are no particular hotspot areas. Please report any regular occurrences of speeding in your area to 101.

  • Thursday 20th May, 2021

    Speed checks conducted at Chew Magna by mobile speed unit and around Chew Stoke by police.

  • Friday 19th March, 2021

    The Chew Valley team continue to perform speed gun checks around the valley and mobile patrols to deter and prosecute offending. One person was recently reported to court for speeding through Compton Martin at 60mph.

  • Sunday 14th February, 2021

    Patrols are continuing and actions taken to enforce speed limits.

  • Saturday 16th January, 2021

    Speeding awareness and enforcement activities continue to occur around the Chew Valley area. This has resulted in other driving offences being identified and dealt with. For example driving without insurance or an MOT.

  • Saturday 19th December, 2020

    Speed enforcement continues and is taking place at key locations around the Chew Valley.

  • Friday 13th November, 2020

    The local beat manager continues to prevent speeding in the valley with regular patrols of the hotspot locations and using a speedgun.

  • Friday 16th October, 2020

    The beat manager is tackling this issue with regular traffic operations. As well as a number of offenders receiving tickets, other offences like no insurance have also been dealt with.
