Anti Social Behaviour Town Street, Shepton Mallet

Traders and residents have spoken to Neighbourhood officers about their concerns over perceived increase in occurrences of drug dealing, drunkenness and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in the Town Street area of Shepton Mallet. Our response to this is to increase our patrols in this area and to continually proactively engage with residents and traders. Safer, stronger communities are enhanced by positive relations with neighbourhood police.  We will continue to patrol this location and deal positively with occurrences.

  • Friday 3rd March, 2023

    The actions of Shepton Police in engaging with rough sleepers in the town centre has significantly reduced incidents of Anti Social Behaviour in the town. Local residents worked together with Shepton Neighbourhood Policing Team  and local authorities to engage, signpost and divert rough sleepers away from residential areas in the town.

  • Sunday 19th February, 2023

    There were 24 reported incidents of Anti Social Behaviour in Shepton Town last month. This uptick reflects the holiday period and school holidays. This compares with 38 reported incidents during the same period last year. Shepton Town local police continue to proactive engage with residents in resolving incidents of ASB in the town.

  • Friday 13th January, 2023

    Increased engagement with traders and residents has lowered the number of incidents of anti-social behaviour in Shepton Town. There were seven public order offences recorded in November and three public order offences recorded in December 2022. This is astounding for the festive season and is a testament to the people of Shepton.

  • Friday 16th December, 2022

    Twenty three traders have signed up to our Shepton Business Partnership. This exchange of information helps us to form closer relationships with traders. Already, traders are saying that they are finding this beneficial to the town centre.
