Coronavirus (COVID-19): the policing response and what you need to know

Neighbourhood Policing & Coronavirus

Neighbourhood Policing & Coronavirus

Coronavirus has seen us living in strange times since March this year, it’s had a massive impact on our daily lives and communities. As a local policing team our duty to respond to the needs of the public has not changed and we continue our work as normal while adhering to Covid safety measures. Where we are required to attend addresses we ensure we are wearing personal protective equipment and if a member of the public is vulnerable or isolating we can adapt our way of working to ensure their report or query is dealt with.

We have gone through the challenges of changing Covid regulations with the public and for us this has meant regular changes around enforcement. We have adapted along the way to the various Covid regulations and want to reassure you that we have taken breaches of Covid regulations very seriously. Enforcing Covid rules has become part of our daily role and we have a responsibility to challenge where we think a possible breach is taking place. Over the last 8 months Avon and Somerset Constabulary have dealt with 159 breach incidents over the local policing area of Uphill.
