Street drinking, begging, ASB and drugs issues.
Tuesday 3rd September, 2019
We have secured a number of controlling orders on those intent on causing issues in the High Street and refusing help. One of our latest Criminal Behaviour Order subjects breached eight times in twelve days, causing us to arrest and remand him in August, where he is still on remand awaiting sentencing.
We have worked with our partners in the council and Addaction to help those who wish to change, having allocated officers who have helped people to stay away from offending and seek help for what are often addiction issues. Two recent successes were:
- An elderly man who was often found drunk and incontinent in the street. We have supported him to seek addiction support, remain at his flat and supported him in finding social activities to take up his time. He is thankfully now in a much better condition, free of alcohol and having been out of trouble for well over a month now.
- A female has been offered rehab and detox from addiction issues and an allocated officer continues to offer daily support with partners, which has resulted in significant improvements with more work to go.
Our work seeks to help those willing to accept it, but enforce the actions that are unacceptable to the community. We have the highest number of Criminal Behaviour Orders active of any neighbourhood area, but also couple that with the significant work our partners and us offer those in need means where you tell us about issues we will do what we can, just contact PS Kerslake via the form on the main Weston Town Centre beat page.
