Coronavirus (COVID-19): the policing response and what you need to know

Theft from Work Vans

Recently two work vans have been broken into on the AW 052 Beat Area.

One was a van containing general gardening tools, the second was a Ford transit type van which had the locks ‘Popped’ ( no damage to locks) & around £3,000 worth of power tools were taken.

This seems to be a feature linked with the long dark nights, & the incident occurred on a wild & windy night, giving cover to offenders. Although the victim’s vehicle was parked directly outside of his property, he heard nothing.

Think about how work’s vehicles are parked, to prevent easy access. Either remove tools overnight, or consider fixing a ‘Locked cage’ within the rear of the van. Ensure tools are security marked or post-coded, & make/model/serial numbers are recorded.

These kind of offences have a massive impact on victim’s affecting their livelihood & their ability to work.
