Security advice for the summer

Agreed: 10 June 2019

Added by Sara Stephenson on 10 June 2019 at 12:13

As the summer weather approaches we would like to remind all residents to ensure that doors and windows are kept secure when you are out. Even if you are at home please ensure your doors are locked. If you are working in the back garden keep the front door locked and secure; you don’t want any uninvited guests popping in. Keep your garden equipment locked away securely when not being used. You can’t cut your lawn without a lawn mower but a thief can make lots of money selling it. Should you require any advice on marking such equipment then please get in touch with us by by either phoning 101 or by attending Wincanton Police Station between 10:00 and 18:00 Monday - Friday. You can also contact us by visiting our website www.avonandsomerset.police.uk (click on contact us & then click on general enquiries).

As the summer draws to a close we are pleased to say there have been minimum reports received regarding thefts of gardening equipment, however, we urge residents not to become complacent. Please remember to secure valuable gardening equipment as soon as you have finished using it.
